Initial data block value.

    Hello,

I would like to know what is the data block value in the new cards.
All new or virgin cards I used till now were delivered with 0x00 in the data blocks: 0x00000000000000000000000000000000.
However a customer sent me a Mifare 1K card with manufacturing keys A and B (0xFFFFFFFFFFFF) and all datasblocks with
    0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

Is that possible or should I suspect that my customer modified the data blocks?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

I would not expect to find a special byte pattern in unused data blocks if the access is allowed. For example the card can be tested before it arrives you. This test may let the data block all bits set or cleared after test.

The data sheet says: “The default content of the data blocks at delivery is not defined.”

    Regards,
