As a NFC reader for MIFARE® products we recommend the controller based high-performance PN7642 NFC reader suited to integrate MIFARE applications in the markets without the need of hardware security at the PCD side.

The reader IC has a high output power of 2W and an ultra low-power card detection mode allowing also battery-powered systems to read tags, cards and tickets efficiently. The PN7642 supports the MIFARE products’ high transfer speeds of up to 848 kbit/s in both directions and supports several host interfaces, including SPI, HSUART, I²C,  I³C . For secure implementations with End-2-End system security requirements the recommendation is to go or add MIFARE SAM AV3 into the design to support MIFARE Plus and MIFARE DESFire implementations. The PN7642 brings significant advantages to applications that need an authentication by combining a high-performance NFC reader, a programmable Cortex-M33 microcontroller, and a secure cryptographic subsystem with secure key storage.
