MIFARE

Arcontia now fully supports MIFARE Plus, MIFARE DESFire EV1 and MIFARE Ultralight C 26. September 2011

Cartes exhibition, Paris, December 7, 2010 – ARCONTIA TECHNOLOGY AB, a Swedish producer of contactless smart card readers and terminals, today announces its latest reader software support package to be used with Arcontia’s product family of contactless smart card readers.

The launch marks the latest features to Arcontia’s new product line of smart card products designed for e-ticketing and e-payment markets. By using either 128 bits AES or 3KDES encryption for MIFARE DESFire™ EV1, 128 bit AES encryption for MIFARE Plus™ and 3KDES for MIFARE Ultralight™ C, the new reader platform guarantees the highest levels of security for companies migrating their ticketing or payment systems.

MIFARE Plus is 100% compatible with MIFARE™ Classic since it emulates MIFARE Classic at its Level 1. By switching over to Level 2 mode, which requires AES authentication, or Level 3 mode, which requires AES for both authentication and communication, the migration to higher security levels will be both smooth and reliable.

MIFARE DESFire EV1 is a flexible and modern smart card using a file structure that can contain several applications with multiple keys. The card has a built-in backup functionality and provides high speed communication.

MIFARE Ultralight C is fully compatible with existing MIFARE infrastructure and can therefore be easily integrated in current contactless solutions. It is the successor of MIFARE Ultralight now with support for 3KDES encryption. The command set is compatible to MIFARE Ultralight and the authenticate commands are equal to MIFARE DESFire EV1.

In addition to the MIFARE family, the Arcontia reader product family supports SmartMX™ and several other smart cards used in cashless ticketing and payment applications. To this, the reader platform incorporates up to 4 high speed SAM slots (Secure Access Module) and the reader software supports the latest MIFARE AV1 and MIFARE AV2 SAMs from NXP. The Arcontia smart card reader portfolio will be on display at the Cartes exhibition in Paris on December 7-9, 2010. Developer’s Kits for C++ and .NET development are now available for delivery, and include easy to use classes that simplify the security usage of advanced features, allowing system integrators to focus on application development.
