Gothenburg, Sweden, April 15, 2013 – ARCONTIA INTERNATIONAL AB, a Swedish producer of contactless smart card products and solutions for Automatic Fare Collection (AFC), today announced the start up of its new Mexican branch of Arcontia International.

Arcontia successfully entered the Latin American market over six years ago, developing and implementing its first Arcontia product branded AFC project in Argentina. Since then, the company has increased and expanded its presence in the region, focusing specifically on the e-ticketing market for public transport.

Today, Arcontia has an established network of local partners, and is involved in both small- and large-scale AFC projects in over 10 Latin American countries. With a customer base that has grown rapidly over the past couple of years, the new branch will allow Arcontia to better support the growing market and demand for new and modern electronic fare collection systems in the region.

Magnus Stahlberg, CEO, Arcontia International AB, says, “Because of the expanding Latin America market and customer base, it was a natural step to expand to Mexico. With the new branch, we are able to cover a larger geographical area, and become even more regional in our business approach. ”

Since the start in 1996, Arcontia is present in over 40 countries worldwide, and together with local partners, it offers complete e-ticketing solutions for both open- and closed-looped payment schemes. Furthermore, the company has a long history of designing and delivering contactless smart card readers and validators.

All Arcontia products are based on the 13.56 MHz contactless technology and are fully compatible with the entire MIFARE family, including MIFARE Plus, MIFARE DESFire EV1 and MIFARE UltraLight C, as well as supporting Smart MX and Calypso. The products come with a comprehensive software development kit for quick and easy development and integration, as well as an extensive Key Management System (KMS) to support the introduction of the latest SAMs, including the MIFARE AV2 SAM.
