Advantec Ltd., a Finnish company located in Helsinki, Finland, was founded in 1987 to offer products and services related to Smart Card systems. During its twenty six of existence the company has developed an extensive expertise in the field, with a wide range of activities from the design and development of the company’s Smart Cards based security products SECUTRAN, EASYPASS, and PROSIM, to consultancy and design and specification of system architectures, security architectures, hardware and software solutions for various types of industries and organisations. During the past twenty years, the company has accumulated an exceptional record in specification and consultancy services, including numerous specifications for various smart card based public transport systems in Finland and abroad, risk analysis of various systems, coordination of City Card projects, assistance in the development of a certification program for equipment and software to be used in the Finnish Purse Provider’s payment system, consultancy and studies for such organisations as the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Finnish Railways, Japan Highway Public Corporation, NPRA (Norwegian Public Roads Administration), the European Commission, RPA (Railway Procurement Agency, Ireland), Dublin Bus, etc.The company has also taken part in the European standardisation work related to Telematic transport systems with an active participation in CEN 278/WG1 (Electronic Fee Collection and Access Control) and CEN 224/WG11 (Machine Readable Cards, Related Device Interfaces and Operations - Transport Applications). The company has also participated in the European-wide initiative CARDME (Concerted Action on Research and Demand Management in Europe), as well as in several Fourth framework projects such as Adept II, Move-it, and Distinct. A fully independent, privately owned company Advantec Ltd. has no affiliation with any supplier of smart card systems or components.
