The NXP MIFARE team welcomes Plasticard-ZFT as a new MIFARE Advanced Partner 1. February 2022

NXP® Semiconductors is pleased to announce that Germany-based Plasticard-ZFT GmbH & Co. KG has been awarded  MIFARE® Advanced Partner status. The granting of the Advanced Partner status recognizes Plasticard’s future-proof technology that is a vital addition to the development of smart cities with digital services as well as highlighting the great opportunities in expanding MIFARE products into new smart city applications such as EV charging.

Plasticard-ZFT

Plasticard-ZFT is a privately owned innovative full-service provider with card-manufacturing, personalization and fulfilment capabilities. The company has a 30-year history in the identification and access control industry. Based out of Dresden, Germany, Plasticard-ZFT serves a customer base across the DACH region, Continental Europe as well as the Middle East and Africa.

“We Connect Identities” describes the overarching umbrella of the organization, especially when it comes to multi-technology credentials and even more importantly, combining access control with IT security around MFA Solutions plus ID Verification & Authentication Services and Solutions. Helping organizations find the best way to migrate to higher security / technology i.e., from MIFARE Classic to MIFARE DESFire® EV3 is also part of the DNA of Plasticard-ZFT.

Having its inhouse R&D department, Plasticard-ZFT is focused on future RFID-technologies as well as sustainable materials and manufacturing procedures.

As the world becomes more and more digital, Plasticard-ZFT provides Services and Solutions around digital credentials and applets based on the JCOP platform. The company holds multiple certifications such as ISO27001 to ensure data security for its customers.

With a deep knowledge based on the NXP Technology, Plasticard-ZFT has worked through a number of major projects which apply the latest NXP Technologies.

Plasticard-ZFT was recently appointed by the Austrian Bundesministerium für Klimaschutz to deliver as a full-service provider the Austrian KlimaTicket Ö (Travel Pass for the Austrian public transport) which is based on MIFARE DESFire EV3 as a base for additional services. The KlimaTicket Ö and its services are designed to help Austria reach the Paris climate goals and therefore the card itself comes as a 100% recycled PVC card.

The TU Dresden relies with their campus4you-project on Plasticard-ZFT’s expertise of combining access control with MIFARE DESFire EV2 alongside the VDV-KA applet (the German public transport standard) to enable students to use regional public transport services with their Student ID-card. The card also serves as key for lockers on campus as well for access to the university libraries.
