Hello I have a customer who has a large user base of Mifare 1 K users (20,000 people)

They want to migrate do Desfire EV1.

They currently encode a persons 8 digit id number on sector 3 of the mifare 1k chip. no keys are used to lock the card down.
Is it possible for them to switch to the desfire card and it emulate the Miffare 1k so that the card can still be programmed in the same way and also have the functionality of the desfire card available for future application?

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hi Paul,
You probably meant MIFARE DESFire EV2. Classic emulation on DESFire EV2 will be available in future release (Not in the first release).
regarding your business case: You can realize the same with DESFire EV1. You can have a file inside an application. The file will have free read access and no write access.
By the way, what do you mean, no keys are used to lock down the card? in MIFARE Classic 1K, you got to authenticate with KeyA or KeyB (depending on access control).
