MIFARE Classic and NTAG products uses the IEC/ISO14443-3 protocol and the MIFARE DESFire the IEC/ISO14443-4 protocol. Hence, in your setup you must go through the “Request for Answer to Select (RATS)” and “PPS Request/Response” procedure. It is not clear for me if you do this properly. It seems you use the NXP Reader Library.
I assume you build the library sources for your device and you can locate the origin of the error message “Transceive length exceeds supported maximum”. I would say that the APDU buffer is too small and increasing it will fix this error.
