Sometimes the interface driver for the USB reader allows it to read and write consecutively blocks. Most USB readers use the stored key for authentication and if the key for both neighboring sectors is the same, you could write or read a neighboring block. To prevent such “overlapping access” you should only read and write one single block at time.
Writing successfully to a different sector without authentication is not possible!
