As I know, VeraCrypt is a software to encrypt mass storage devices like hard drives or USB sticks.
The MIFARE Classic IS NOT a mass storage device! There is no software which takes a smartcard as mass storage device (as I know). The available memory is much slower (1K until 8K) and the transfer times are much higher.
The typical use case for a smart card is to verify a saved password and contains a small amount of information like user ID, account balance etc. For carrying data you should use an USB stick.
