Introduced in 1994, the MIFARE Classic product family works as a contactless smart ticket ICs operating in the 13,56 MHZ frequency range with read/write capability and ISO 14443 compliance. MIFARE Classic 1K was the first IC to be used in high volume public transport ticketing in a major transport project in Seoul, Korea. Following this first success, MIFARE Classic stepped up to drive the contactless revolution in a majority of applications and markets for more than 20 years.

MIFARE Classic 4K opened up many new service opportunities by enabling customers, may it be public transport, access management, ID badges and many more, to implement multi-application cards. With it’s increased EEPROM capacity such cards were able to facilitate numerous applications in one credential.

The MIFARE Classic EV1 product family incorporates innovations in this long established product line. It features an enhanced True Random Number Generator, NXP Originality Signature for the 1K variant and 7B UIDs. It is the successor of all previous MIFARE Classic generations and it is fully backwards compatible to these.
