NXP Selects Paragon ID as MIFARE Premium Partner 30. August 2018

NXP Semiconductors has chosen Paragon ID, a pioneer in contactless tickets and a leading provider of identification solutions to cities worldwide, as a MIFARE Premium Partner.

MIFARE Premium Partners are hand selected by NXP. To be eligible for nomination, a company must be a major contributor to the MIFARE® product ecosystem, have an international presence, and be dedicated to furthering the adoption of intelligent RFID and NFC solutions. Paragon ID is only the fifth company to be selected as a MIFARE Premium Partner and joins AdvanIDe, HID Global, Identiv, and Linxens in this prestigious and highly exclusive partner category.

Nomination to this elite group recognizes Paragon ID’s exceptional commitment to contactless solutions and demonstrates that Paragon ID not only shares NXP’s vision for smart cities, but is already helping to establish the forward-thinking mobility systems that form the backbone of smart city infrastructures. With over 600 employees and 7 manufacturing sites worldwide, Paragon ID is a global player in the contactless industry, always close to its customers.

Paragon ID: A Leader in Contactless Identification Solutions

Paragon ID is a leading supplier of contactless identification solutions for smart cities and has partnered with NXP on hundreds of projects involving MIFARE ICs, especially in contactless transport ticketing. Since 2010, Paragon ID has supplied London with its popular Oyster smart card, which uses NXP’s MIFARE® DESFire® EV1 IC. The multi-purpose Oyster card lets passengers pay for any journey taken by bus, underground, tram, river bus, or railway just by touching the card on the yellow reader, and is a key traveling companion for anyone living in or visiting UK’s capital city.

Paragon ID uses the latest contactless developments to provide smart cards and tickets, labels, tags, and ePassport covers to worldwide clients in diverse markets, including public transport, automotive, logistics, gaming, governments, pharmaceuticals, and retail. Paragon ID’s long-standing commitment to contactless, in smart card and paper formats, results in projects across the United States, Canada, Latin America, Middle East, Europe, and Africa.

The company’s large product portfolio includes chips, embedded software, antennas, and terminals, and focuses strongly on security and speed. By offering complementing solutions, such as the personalization of tickets, data management, or smartphone apps, Paragon ID helps its customers to be on the fast track with their installations.

By accepting their designation as a MIFARE Premium Partner, Paragon ID deepens their already well-established relationship with NXP and creates opportunities to work even more closely with NXP on new MIFARE products and implementations.

Commenting on Paragon ID’s selection as a MIFARE Premium Partner, Christian Lackner, Business Segment Director for Smart Cities at NXP Semiconductors, said: “We could not be happier. Paragon ID has been on board since almost the very beginning and has delivered millions of MIFARE product-based cards and tickets across the globe. We look forward to working with them even more closely as MIFARE Premium Partners.”

Bertrand Brault, Marketing and Business Development Director at Paragon ID, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the few MIFARE Premium Partners. This is a testament to our work as we’ve been developing contactless solutions based on MIFARE over the past 20 years, and we credit much of our success in this area to the quality of support we’ve received from the NXP MIFARE team. We are keen to continue our collaboration, with ongoing support for smart city customers and expansion into new sectors, such as loyalty and hospitality.”
