Malaysian bus operator, Handal Indah, places new order with Arcontia for their MIFARE PLUS AFC system. 16. May 2013

Gothenburg, Sweden, April 23, 2013 – ARCONTIA INTERNATIONAL AB, a Swedish producer of contactless smart card products and solutions for Automatic Fare Collection (AFC), today announces that it has received an additional order for MIFARE PLUS ticket validators from Handal Indah Sdn Bhd (Causeway Link), one of the largest bus company providers from Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Handal Indah recently implemented a new fare payment system, the ManjaLink Card, based on NXP’s MIFARE PLUS technology. In 2011, the new AFC system, including ARC2330 validators from Arcontia, was successfully deployed in Johor Bahru, making it the first contactless-card based AFC system for public transport in the city. Throughout 2013, Handal Indah’s buses will be upgraded with the new AFC system, including all cross-border buses to Singapore.

With the implementation of the new system, Handal Indah has placed a new order with Arcontia for additional ARC2330 validators, as well as ARC3300 validators for check-in/check-out, making payment onboard buses faster, easier and more convenient.

The ARC2330 validator from Arcontia is a compact ISO 14443 A/B smart card reader with a graphical LCD display. The ARC3300 validator is an interactive contactless terminal housing a 5.7″ TFT colour touch display and four physical buttons. Both validators are compliant with the entire MIFARE family, Smart MX, FeliCa, Calypso and ISO 18092 Near Field Communication (NFC), making them ideal for high frequency contactless applications that require high speed and convenience for fast transactions and quick passenger throughput.

Handal Indah owns over 400 stage and express busses, operating throughout the city of Johor Bahru, interstate and cross-border to Singapore. The full roll out of the new AFC system is scheduled by end of 2013.
