New LEGIC advant 4000 readers are fully compatible with all MIFARE transponders

At the end of August 2012 LEGIC Identsystems Ltd, the Swiss company specialised in contactless people identification, presented the new LEGIC advant SM-4500 reader module and the new OS-4000 V2.0 firmware. This milestone in RFID reader technology supports all types of MIFARE transponders and is fully compatible with all existing installations. LEGIC advant 4000 reader chips impress with integrated encryption functionality and its easy use.

The new SM-4500 reader module and the new OS-4000 V2.0 make the LEGIC advant 4000 series LEGIC’s most wide-ranging generation of readers:  The reader modules support all common RF standards and can be inserted in a wide variety of installations.

Support of MIFARE transponders

With the installation of OS-4000 V2.0, this characteristic is further developed: in addition to RF standards, the required encryption functions for all common MIFARE transponders are supported by LEGIC advant 4000 readers. Furthermore, the integrated encryption function makes simple application designs possible and considerably reduces the time-to-market.

Efficiency through high level command set

Through the high level command set of the LEGIC advant 4000 family, simple and secure integration of the technology in different applications is ensured. Users do not waste time and can focus on new, innovative applications.

Simplicity for customers

“We are convinced that both NXP and LEGIC will benefit from this co-operation”, commented Dr Reinhard Kalla, Vice President Product Management & New Business at LEGIC, on this strategic move. “In addition to security, we also want to offer customers simplicity, which is why we decided to integrate MIFARE interoperability in the 4000 series.”

A secure investment for the future

The LEGIC advant 4000 series stands out with its compact design and its low energy use. Attractive designs, easy insertion into battery-supported applications and the simple use of smart card technology offer innovative solutions to the operator and the user. Up-to-date security features and the upgrade capability secure operators’ investment for future challenges too.
