AdvanIDe launches first certified Arsenal Testhouse inlay based on MIFARE® DESFire® EV2 chip family 29. June 2016

AdvanIDe has announced the launch of its new certified, contactless inlay offering that supports NXP Semiconductor’s MIFARE DESFire EV2 chip family. The certification verifies that the performance of the inlays meet the requirements of the standard set by MIFARE® products. Smart card manufacturers can use AdvanIDe’s newly certified inlays to manufacture finished cards with increased flexibility and convenience. AdvanIDe is the first inlay supplier to pass the certification test conducted by the independent certification institute for contactless MIFARE product-based systems: Arsenal Testhouse.

“By qualifying the new NXP MIFARE DESFire EV2 in our Inlays, we are providing our customers a new opportunity to take advantage of the improved multi-application features of the NXP chips that enable enhanced key management and seamless integration of additional services,” said Holger Winterhalter, Segment Head Secure Access at AdvanIDe, which is a MIFARE Premium Partner of NXP, one of the world’s leading semiconductor suppliers. “The inlays supplied by AdvanIDe can be customized with different antenna format, layout and frequency for the maximum benefit to card manufacturers.”

“The availability of AdvanIDe’s Arsenal certified inlays based on MIFARE DESFire EV2, the industry-leading open multi-application platform with open API, facilitates the deployment of cards into all market verticals currently relying on MIFARE products,” said Christian Lackner, Segment Manager Smart Mobility, NXP Semiconductors. “The compatibility within the MIFARE family allows public transport operators to switch to a product that enhances consumer experience, raises the security level and contributes to a smarter environment.”

The NXP chip family for which the AdvanIDe inlays are used enables selectable cryptographic methods, including 3DES and AES128 and offering 2 kB, 4kB and 8kB EEPROM size and full MIFARE DESFire EV1 backward compatibility. As a solution meeting EAL 5+ security requirements for both hardware and software, MIFARE DESFire EV2 is a choice for customers seeking to migrate from other MIFARE or compatible products to the highest security level at reasonable cost. MIFARE products comply with the international standard ISO/IEC 14443 and are used for a wide variety of applications around the world.
