Beijing has taken an important step to enhance its public transport systems' efficiency and attractiveness, by investing in contactless smart card technology for bus, metro and taxi services. At a time when people and market conditions are prompting investment in public transport, the capital city of the world's most populous nation has adopted MIFARE for its Beijing One Card project.

| World's largest contactless
Smart Card installation in full operation in Korea
The Korean system integrator INTEC LTD. finished
the installation of contactless smart card terminals
in all 8,700 busses of Seoul Bus Union. The number
of contactless MIFARE cards issued is 20
million and millions of 'contactless' transactions
are being handled every day since then.
