CLRC663

As the first member of NXP’s new generation of high-performance proximity contactless reader ICs, the CLRC663 combines robust multiprotocol support, high RF output power, and low-power card detection. High integration and a small housing make it ideal for small form-factor reader terminals, and a wide variety of contactless personal and infrastructure devices.

The CLRC663, the initial product in a new family of reader ICs, combines uniquely high RF output power with a very small HVQFN package to ensure large and reliable reading distances for microcontroller-based smart card ICs such as MIFARE DESFire, MIFARE Plus, and SmartMX.

This new reader IC enables energy- and resource-efficient implementations by integrating low-power card detection. Its unique combination of features, paired with robustness and quality, creates a benchmark for the infrastructure industry, where installations with long lifetimes also need enhanced functionality. By supporting fast-mode SAM connection, in combination with NXP’s SAM AV2 product range, the CLRC663 makes it possible to create secure installations with the NXP MIFARE product range. Implementation of the initiator mode of P2P communication enables full support of NFC-based use cases in an infrastructure environment. To support mobile phones and the emerging use of credentials in different form factors and protocols, the device also integrates a large internal EEPROM, for fast and flexible configuration of register settings.
