BioKey® is the leading PC-independent stand-alone fingerprint identification module for biometric applications. The Biokey module can be combined with MIFARE RFID-card systems. We defined a standard biometric segment on the NXP MIFARE Card. Thereby, a dualcard system was realized. First of all, the card reader checks whether the biometric template is available on the segment or not. If it is, a comparisson between the template and the fingerprint will be initiated. Otherwise, the usual comparisson with the card number will be done. In doing so, the present standard of MIFARE is supported and no additional investments are necessary.
